  1. The Restore Procedure.
  2.  
  3. The following procedure assumes that the Emergency Backup database is held
  4. in the folder D:\WINMEBU. Please remember to type a space character between
  5. 'd:\winmebu\restore' and 'd:\winmebu' and 'd:\winmebu' and 'c'
  6.

  8. The folder D:\WINMEBU will contain a DOS batch file called RESTORE.BAT.
  9. This DOS Batch file will run a DOS version of the freeware zip program, 
  10. from Info-Zip, to restore the 8.3 file names. The zip files containing the
  11. long named files and folders are then copied to the C: drive. When the
  12. system is re-booted AISRestore will automatically process these zip files.

  14. 1/ Boot the PC using your Emergency restore diskette.
  15.  
  16. 2/ Choose an appropriate boot option from the menu. 
  17.    (i.e. with or without CD ROM support)
  18.  
  19. 3/ Optionally Format the C: Drive, but only if the Emergency Backup is 
  20.    not on the C: Drive.
  21.  
  22. 4/ Optionally load SmartDrv by typing a:\smartdrv.
  23.  
  24. 5/ Start the restore by typing d:\winmebu\restore d:\winmebu c
  25.  
  26. 6/ Once this phase of the backup has completed, remove the diskette from 
  27.    the diskette drive and re-boot the PC by pressing Ctrl, Alt & Delete.

  29. 7/ After typing your Username and Password AISRestore will finish the
  30.    restore process by restoring the long named files.

  34. Once this restore has completed you should restore the rest of the C: drive
  35. using your regular C: drive backup script.

  37. It is likely that the scripts on the Emergency System Backup are older than
  38. the other backups you own. Prior to restoring the rest of the files on your
  39. C drive you should use the Import DB option of Manage Scripts. If the
  40. required script does not exist on the newly restored PC, use the Import Backup
  41. option of New Script. The Restore File Database's that this procedure restores
  42. are located with the Backup Database (zip) files, in the case of CD backups this
  43. file is on the last CD used.
